A. Research on Japanese Lesson Study to come up with ideas for establishing innovative teacher education systems for long-term, independent educational improvement in teaching mathematics.

B. Professional development to disseminate ideas for establishing innovative teacher education systems for long-term, independent educational improvement in mathematics teaching. Workshops and institutes would examine how to implement ideas for Lesson Study and innovative ideas for professional development in various schools with different systems and cultural back ground in order to prepare them to create in their own countries’ systems for long-term, independent educational improvement in teaching mathematics.

C. Facilitate opportunities for researchers, administrators, and practicing school professionals throughout the region to exchange their ideas to improve their education systems for teaching mathematics.
